Honie’s Poppy Seed Cake Recipe…

This week I am going to do some recipes that would be great to serve at or take to your Superbowl parties. This Poppy seed cake is my Grandmother Honie’s recipe and everyone always loves it. It is super easy, it is what I call a dump recipe. Dump everything and stir! Enjoy

Honie’s Poppy Seed Cake

1 box Butter Cake Mix (like Duncan Hines)

3/4 cup oil (I use canola)

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup sugar

4 eggs

1/4 cup Poppy Seeds

1 small sour cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease and flour a bundt cake pan (I use Trader Joes spray coconut oil but you could use pam or butter, easiest to use a spray on a bundt pan for me)

Put all ingredients in bowl and mix well. Pour into bundt pan and bake at 350 for 50 mins or until a knife or long tooth pick comes out clean.

Take out of oven and put what ever you are going to use as a serving plate on top of the bundt pan and then carefully flip. Allow to cool, cake should fall onto serving plate.

As cake is cooling mix the icing. I make a double batch because it is thin and drips down to bottom like in picture.

Icing

2 Cups Powder sugar

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice. I do include some of the pulp so it adds to the tang

Mix together and drizzle over the cake when cooled.

For decorations you can add lemon slices to the top.

Refrigerate until serving,
